In part because the person does not expect to die, but in part because the habits of a lifetime are hard to break.

You do not get to know in advance how long your lifetime is going to be.

The Church advocates to everyone at all times that they get in the habit of seeking and doing God's will. Additionally, that you get in the habit of avoiding sin, especially when it pleases you to sin.

If you have a lifetime habit of avoiding God, it's going to be very hard to break it at the very last moment.Arkanabar T'verrick Ilarsadinhttp://arkanabar.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30512717.post-37105301811134566442009-09-09T14:16:00.471-07:002009-09-09T14:16:00.471-07:00great answer, but scary to think about us choosing...great answer, but scary to think about us choosing to stay there digging the sand. i guess that is what sin is, a choice to not do the right thing, but this definitely illustrates it well.amy h :)noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30512717.post-19136570185249553372009-09-08T19:41:15.764-07:002009-09-08T19:41:15.764-07:00I was thinking of C.S. Hell is a tiny crack in the whole of creation, and those who dwell there can take a bus trip to heaven - actually a great plain on the way to heaven. And they can stay. Instead they were convinced that when they went through the door that they just entered a dark, dingy tent. So, while everyone else literally frolicked around them in paradise the dwarves just sat there blind to it all.Barbara C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/03568254165279635079noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30512717.post-60203819741647241652009-09-07T17:21:00.362-07:002009-09-07T17:21:00.362-07:00"God does put you in hell, you go there."..."God does put you in hell, you go there."
I think it should be does NOT :0)

That is an interesting idea of hell.
I wonder if it is different for different people? I've also heard that part of the reason that there is no repentance after death because it is our "final answer". Once we're dead, we finally have all the facts, so we won't be changing our minds.Catholic Mutthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10254315970336710941noreply@blogger.com
